Chana





Ingredients:

Chickpea ( Boiled)- 1 kg
Ghee- 250 gms
Onions- 250 gms
Tomatoes- 150 gms
Ginger Garlic paste- 50 gms
Channa Masala- 50 gms
Chat Masala- 1 tsp
Red chilli powder- 20 gms
Anardana ( Dry Pomegranate seeds) paste- 30 gms
Salt- to taste
Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped- 20 gms
Green chillies sliced- 50 gm
Water- 1 cup

Method:

  • Heat oil in a pan ( Kadhai).
  • Add finely chopped onions and saute on medium high heat for 5-7 minutes. 
  • When the onions are lightish pink in color, then add the ginger garlic paste. Saute.
  • Add tomatoes, red chilli powder, salt, chana masala, chat masala,anardana paste and then add the boiled chickpeas in this mixture.
  • Mix well. Add the water.Cover and simmer for 5-7 minutes more. Remove lid and cook on high heat for another 2 minutes.
  • Decorate with green chillies ( sliced) and coriander leaves.
  • Serve with Bhatura or Poori.


TIP: I use the boiled chana tins available at Indian stores to save time.
         Instead of ghee, i use Canola oil ( 2 tbsp)

  3. I found that putting every ingredient listed above in pressure pan along with 3 tsp oil and canned channa and couple whisles later its got same taste... can avoid saute all together...
