Arbi Masala -Colocasia

Ingredients:

Arbi ( Colocasia)- 8-10
Onion- 1/2, thinly sliced
Carom seeds- 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder- to taste
Salt- to taste
Mango powder- 1 tsp
Canola Oil- 1 tbsp

Method:

  • Wash colocasia and remove skin. Cut into thin stripes like french fries.
  • Deep fry them in oil until almost cooked.
  • In a pan, add oil and saute the onions till light pink in color.
  • Now add carom seeds, cumin and all of the spices listed above.
  • Then , add the fried colacassia in this mixture.
  • If the arbi feels too crisp, add 2-3 spoons of water in it and then cook only till the masala blends in.
  • This will take about 2-3 minutes and the arbi is ready to eat.
TIP: Some people tend to get allergic to arbi, so it is a good idea to wear gloves while cutting, peeling and washing them or even smearing a little oil on your hands before handling the arbi.
