Idli

Ingredients :


Raw rice- 1 cup
Urad dal- 1/3 cup
Salt- to taste


Method:

  • Soak the rice and dal together for 6-8 hours.
  • Grind in a mixer adding water to make it dosa consistency   batter. The rice should be kept slightly coarser when grinding for idli.The dal should be ground very fine.
  • Let it ferment overnight.Add salt and mix it well.
  • Pour this batter into an idli maker and steam in a pressure cooker for 11 minutes or until done.
  • Serve with butter/ sambar as desired.
