Flan

Ingredients

For pastry

All purpose flour- 4 oz
Salt- 1/4 tsp
Oil- 1 oz
Margarine- 1 oz
Grated cheese- 1 oz
Egg yolk- 1
Water- 3-4 tsp

For Filling
 Egg- 1, the white remaining of the egg from the pastry ingredients and milk- together the amount of liquid should be 1/4 pint
Seasoning- salt and pepper to taste
Grated cheese- 2 oz
Bacon - chopped
Onion- 1- chopped
Mushrooms- 7-8- chopped
Tomatoes- 1- chopped
Olive oil- 1 tsp
7" Flan dish - You can also use the aluminum ones that are available in the supermarket in the baking aisle

Method:




  • Mix all the ingredients of the pastry to make a soft dough. 
  • Grease the dish by using some oil.
  • Press it in the dish so that it coats the dish in the form of a layer. See picture for reference.
  • Grate and sprinkle cheese on the bottom.
  • In a pan, heat the olive oil. Add the onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and bacon and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Fill this mixture on top of the cheese layer in the dish which has the pastry in it.
  • Sprinkle cheese again on top and pour the egg and milk liquid over this and bake at 375 F for 35 minutes.


TIP:  You can use keema, vegetable or any other desired filling instead of the bacon mixture.
